This was finally the day I have been waiting for. I brought my work along and could not wait to present my work to the tutors for Dr maznah was not around. Since Dr maznah was not around, the form of our presentation was different this time. We were asked to group together with our group members and we were to compile our work together before showing them to the tutors. Thankfully, we managed to compile everything the fastest and since Abang HAfiz happened to be nearby, we asked for his comments. I was in fact the most nervous one for my file was the first one to be viewed. My background was not bright enough and brightness was needed to allow the pictures and the words on the slides to be seen clearly. Besides, the pictures and the words were not big enough. I failed to consider the fact that there are many pupils in a class. How could i not consider this? And thankfully, Abang Hafiz reminded me of this and i could not thank him enough. To add, I felt ashamed of myself for a stupid mistake I made - I forgot to write out the objectives and learning outcomes of my lesson.
Of course, he taught me something unforgettable. He introduced me a free website to convert any videos into any format you wishes. It is:
http://www.zamzar.com
Try to use this free website next time instead of downloading a software. This website will do the converting work for you and send the converted file to your mail. it is so much more convenient. And I believe all teachers who prepare technological aids may need to do the converting work.
All in all, the talk between Abang Hafiz and I was a lot helpful. And of course, i would do and amend my work based on his advice and hopefully it would turn out to be the way Dr Maznah wishes to see.

SMARTBOARD Presentation
Today was the day when we needed to present our smartboard work. I found Wai's work was awesome. She integrated much of smart board tools in her work. There was in fact too much to do. The only thing Dr Maznah was dissatisfied with was the fact that she put too much thing in a slide. Dr made her changed and amended her work. All in all, all the presenters needed to amend their work. Thus, an extra week was given to us all to amend our work. However, it was so unfortunate for our group for we were not given to chance to present our work. This was due to the lack of time. It was quite impossible for us all to present all our work in 3 hours.
Back to my college, I headed straight to my work and I found every possible ways to amend my work to make it better. Honestly, I learned a lot from the comments given by Dr Maznah. Though I learned a lot, I found it hard for me to apply all of them in my work. I used up a few hours trying to amend my work up to Dr Maznah's satisfaction. To my surprise, the latest news about us given 2 extra week instead of only a week lighted up my spirit. Yeah... I have the opportunity to show my work to either Dr Maznah or the tutors.
So, there is not much i can do now but to wait for the coming comments next week. Hopefully, my work is up to their standards and even if it is not, I still have a week to amend my work based on their coming comments. There is still time for I have done my work. No procrastination this time around. And I feel good about it.
AND I am waiting and keep waiting for the coming comments....

ADDIE MODEL
We were introduced to another model this week. This time around was ADDIE model. Of course, I paid attention to it rightaway for I wanted to know more of teaching phases every teacher goes through in the teaching life.
I was very much agreed with the phases in the model.
Analysis > Design > Development > Implementation > Evaluation
This is very true for i feel that every teacher needs to understand his or her students' need. For example, a particular student who is very kinesthetic may need lessons which involve much movement to promote learning. When the teacher realises this, of course, he or she needs to design a lesson which can make the student learn. I was told that at this stage, a teacher may have to start creating the storyboard on how to deliver the topic of the lesson for the day. This is the busiest stage, I feel for i have undergone so much of developing materials. Materials still require much work regardless of teachnological and non technological types. Of course, after the materials are designed, the teacher reached the implementation stage when the materials were integrated and used in the lesson. And lastly, evaluation phase arrived whereby both the students and the teacher evaluate. In short, I alreeady knew well of all the phases for I have been sent to school to do the real teaching. All those phases I went through with much hurdles. Thus it was impossible for me to not remember all these phases well. Haha..
All in all, I could help myself but to agree much with ADDIE model and I believe every teacher does practise it in their everyday teaching.

ASSURE MODEL
Honestly, I have not started doing smartboard yet. I did not even bother to start it. What were the reasons? Shouldn't I stop practising procrastination after the lesson I learned from the first assignment? Had I not suffered enough? Well, the reasons were:
1. I just love to procrastinate.
2. There were two weeks more.
3. There might be lessons exposing to me some good examples of lessons regarding smartboard.
These reasons made my second assignment still unattended. I did feel bad whenver i thought about it. I knew i would suffer later but those reasons prevented me from beginning it.
Sadly, my assumption was wrong when one of the tutors named Miss Chin started this week's lecture by introducing us to a model named ASSURE model. I was a little bit disappointed for no guidance was given regarding to the smartboard assignment. Thus, it was quite impossible to allow myself concentrate on the lecture. Honestly, I did not even bother to know what the model was. But my attention was successfully grabbed when Dr Maznah continued the lecture by telling us what each letter of 'ASSURE' represents. Each letter represents the stages involved in the learning process. I found it awesome for it was thoughful of her to think of this. This summarised everything about the model in a way. I listened to it and the awe governed everything. All of us seemed to pay attention to the model.
From this model, I realised that it was insufficient to teach based on books only. In other words, this model showed how much it was better to incoporate both out-of-class resources with technology to come up with the best possible teaching materials. Most importantly, this model promotes different teaching approaches namely focusing on variety students' learning styles and constructivism. These approaches accompanied with the materials said earlier enable teachers to ensure much learning to take place in the students. This is definitely a big achievement for the objective of every lesson is to make sure that students learn.
All in all, I learned something big in teaching life. Teachers' biggest success only happens when the students learn something from the lessons. Thus, any possible ways need to be used and applied by teachers to make sure students learn. And I think this model is created for this reason. I will of course apply this model in my future teaching.

SMARTBOARD
I entered the computer lab as usual. But my walking steps stopped proceeding further when my first eyesight fell on an unfamiliar lady. I instantly thought she was another tutor for this course. At times I wonder if Prof Mazna was really busy that she actually needed 4 tutors? Lucky her!
I headed straight to one of the tables but my movement was disturbed instantly when Joshua greeted the lady but the name "Fenny". I was shocked thinking if Josh and her were friends. I looked at Josh but he sensed no oddness in his greetings. Though I was already seated, I could not take my eyes off the lady. I was still thinking hard who she was.
My suspense was killed when she finally introduced herself to the class. She mentioned that we met her before and she taught us smartboard before. Now only I knew why I could not recognised her. Last time, I did not attend her lecture for one of my course mates, Eliana was sick and I accompanied her to the UM clinic. So, now my course mates might have already know something that both Eliana and I still did not have. Thus, I planned to listen patiently.
The lecture did not go on well for me. The icons were small and at times they were placed at the bottom of the board. This made it impossible for me to see and recognise them for there were so many heads in front of me. I was only seated at the center of the lab. I guess my course mates who sat behind me would be facing something worse. In short, we should have moved forward and sat nearer to the board. I regretted for not doing it. Haih~
To my horror, each group of us needed to come up with an activity using the smart board. Honestly, I was speechless. But having no choice, I moved to my group. I was a little bit ashamed when my team members seemed to discuss so enthutiastically about the activity they wished to do. I could not help but to give ideas. Too many ideas was not always a good idea. Needing to weigh their importances took time. We spent too much time deciding on one until when there was only ten minutes left, we made our decision to teach on numbers. We chose a maths activity for we believed not many groups would think of it. They would most probably create one for an English lesson.
Our group presentation on the activity was good and we received applause from Miss fenny as well as by the tutors. We felt great and of course this could really boost our self confidence in dealing with our next assignment. I could not thank Fenny much for no words could express my gratitude. She really did an excellent job except for the seating. Thanks to her. Really!

It was 7.30am, a day before the submission of my movie. I jumped from my bed and headed towards the study table and continued making my movie. I have just slept for 3 hours and i was making the movie again. What a life!
Thank God, the process of making my movie ended an hour later. I kept replaying the movie to check on its quality. It was not too bad. I felt happy then thinking that my work was almost done. my nightmare came when I read the things in the forum. I was so shock to find that i needed to write a short report, the objectives and learning outcomes of my movie as well as a short description on how my movie could be used in the class. and a story board. among all these, i dreaded story board the most. There were more than 90 frames in my movie. How could i finish all these in a day?
I started drafting the story board in a book. after writing a few pages, I decided I should have begun printing all the story board templates first. thus, i stopped drafting immediately and printed all the templates. while waiting for the printings, i kept thinking of what i should be doing next. all these happened simultaneously. finally, i decided to do the sketching of the frames.
honestly, i did not think i sketched them. instead,i drew them. that's why it took me almost 4 hours to drew everything. i then started describing every frame. I rushed so fast that my handwriting was awful. (Hope Dr. Raja Maznah will not cut marks on this). All of a sudden, a blackout happened. luckily, i already drew all the frames. thus, i experienced no difficulty to continue the work. I felt the heat in my room and I started perspiring. I ignored all of them for I only concentrated much on finishing my assignment. Surprisingly, many of my frames wereof repetitions. (Children just love repetitions). Thus, i could just recopy at times in order to save time. (Of course cut-and paste way is faster but no electricity).
It was 8.30pm and the electricity had been here 2hours ago. I started on writing the report and any other requirements uploaded in the forum. everything was indeed a rush for i managed to write everything within 2 hours.
Though it seemed that everything was done by 10.30pm, i somehow could only go to bed at 3am. I had no idea that much of amendments needed to be done. And I was really really tired. I would only have another 3 hours to sleep so better go to bed now.
p/s: I will never want to procrastinate ever again. It was just so tiring for me to handle. zzzzzz

My enthusiasm to show my made movie to Dr Raja Maznah crashed immediately when I was told she had gone to Scotland. I needed her to comment on my movie. I did not mind if she wanted to comment so much as long as I could improve on my movie. However, it did not happen. How i wished she was there to comment on my movie?
Thus, i refered to one of her tutors, Miss Chin. I had talked to her once before. She looked quite unfriendly. So, i did not want to approach her at first but having no other options (I wonder where Miss Ng was), i apporached her. By looking at the first two frames, unexpectedly, she said my movie was an okay. I asked her again and she gave the same comment. I could not believe my eyes. It was an okay. I thanked her but I remained worried.
Wai saw my worried face and she asked why. i told her of my problem. She then suggested me to ask Miss Ng if the worry was still there. At first, i neglected her but having heard of the situation she faced (Dr Raja maznah threw her many questions) I then agreed.
However, Miss Ng did not turn up in my class. having no options, I walked home sadly. Wai then texted me that she would be meeting Miss Ng the next day to show her of her movie. I was delighted to hear that. Thus, I posted a text in the forum asking if she would be free the next day to check my movie as well. thankfully, she was available.
Sadly, my meet with Miss Ng did not go well. She gave me lotsa suggestions that made me think of redoing. Mark,on the other hand, advised me to only edit it for not much time left. Thinking of this made me could not concentrate much in my next class. I kept disturbing my friend, Eliana voicing out my problems to her. She, too, told me to edit it.
That night, I tried to edit everything. There were actually too many things to edit that I just thought of redoing it due to much time consuming. Now I am still editting it. Just pray that my movie will be up to Miss Ng's expectations. Pray hard!

Panic
I was very much panicked when Dr. Maznah posed plenty of questions to Mark and Lai Yee about their videos. I was very much of this alarm for I found their movies were not that bad. They were okay for me. But the situation changed when the movies did not reach Miss Ng as well as Dr. Maznah’s satisfaction. I felt my calmness leaving me. There was only terror inside me. I was nearly out of control but fortunately, a little of sanity was still there. Thus, I controlled myself and thankfully, the calmness was back again and I asked Dr. Maznah of the requirements to make a movie looks good to her. She thanked me for that question and promised me that she would have the requirements loaded in the internet.
Having myself waiting, I assessed my movie. It was still unfinished but viewing it ten times did not give me a single boredom. In fact, I was quite eager to sense any mistake in my coming-to-an-end movie. This eagerness was quite useful, I think for it gave improvement on to my movie. But, I could sense no mistake. I wondered if this was good news not having anything to be amended to. Having no amendment onto my movie created a feeling of uncertainty and uneasiness to me. I was very much in doubt if I was such a perfect movie maker. Since I had just enrolled in the movie plus with the fact that I was nearly a ‘computer-illiterate’ I decided to change a bit of my idea. The idea had been changed into the simpler one. In short, it appeared to be more logical; more to reality type.
I looked through the photos of animals I found from Google website. I scrutinized every photo and I felt that God was a great creator. The physical look of every animal was so unique namely the lion’s mane as well as the patches (which looked more like ‘bricks’ to me) on the giraffe’s body. This realization gave a beautiful idea on how to allow the audience of my movie got to see those uniqueness too. I then decided to use the ‘zooming in and out’ software. I had no idea if it was called software but that was what I planned to call it. In brief, my audience would get the chance to zoom any photo of the animal in my movie whenever they wanted to. For instance, if a giraffe has always been Ahmad’s (let’s say he was my audience) favourite animal, he could zoom the photo to have a closer look. By doing this, he could get to know more of the things that he might not know before. This could add more knowledge into him plus with the fact that the name of each animal was spelled in the most effective way.
Now I am still rushing. Having myself drawn the first two frames was not as difficult as searching for the right music for my movie. Honestly, I did think of putting in romantic music but since this movie was meant for children, I think it would be better if I put in catchy songs to enlighten them. They would be interested and hopefully they shake around or at least a little bit when the music is being play. This is something I hope to see so as to get to know if they like my movie. Even their laughter towards the movie maybe towards the music or animation can prove they enjoy my movie.
All right, it is time for me to get back to work. There are still plenty to do especially searching for the right music to be uploaded. Pray hard!

Another New Assignment???
This week’s lecture was a nightmare. Dr. Maznah did really remind me of the assignment she gave us the week before. It was an ‘Oh-my-God’ case for me. This was due to the fact that I totally had no idea how to begin the assignment. Why was I ‘idea-less’? The reasons were very predictable. First, I still had so much time. Second, I did not even bother to understand the given task. HAha…
The lecture became a nightmare when her assistant, Miss Ng guided us on how to plan this assignment. She flashed a few slides showing us a very proper yet a neat way to prepare. The nightmare became scarier when she mentioned of a few soft ware (namely the windows movie maker) which could be used to make our movie (the assignment) a success. Hey! I was totally and completely speechless. I was again blurred. But this time around, I was very conscious of the fact that many of my course mates were speechless too. I then became very worried; too worried that my brain could no longer receive any input. Then it came the moment when I was not aware of the surrounding. I was completely into my world. I was too busy ‘layan-ing’ my thoughts namely ‘What is this?’, ‘I cannot believe I am going to do this’, ‘I am going to fail’. In short, all those pessimistic thoughts came flooding in my brain that I thought it was going to explode very soon.
Thankfully, Nisa who was sitting next to me responded. It awoke me and my mind was back in reality, the computer laboratory. I looked at Nisa. My eyes became rounder as if I could get a better view of what she was doing. I could not believe my eyes. She was exploring the windows movie maker. Hey! She knew how to use it. Wasting no time, I asked her to teach me and she did. Thank God, my blurred cases have been solved. During this moment, I did not even want to bother anything else. My mission was to make myself know how to make a movie. I was very grateful for Nisa was such a great teacher. I did really learn something from her. Of course, I would follow her advice which was to refer to ‘Youtube’ if I faced any difficulty.
My learning did not end there. I explored around the laboratory to check on my course mates’ progresses. Whenever I happened to see anything unfamiliar, I would stop by and asked them. Fortunately, they did not mind a single bit to guide me. I jotted down to steps and hopefully I could make a movie.
Today, my movie is progressing. True, I was very much in doubt in my ability to make a movie. But now, I have faith in myself. Based on all those guidance my friends have shown me as well as Miss Ng’s I believe my movie will be a success. However, I am still thinking of its title. Hai… This is the hardest part, don’t you agree?
P/s Good luck to everyone. Gambateh!

Gambateh!

July 12th
Excitement was all over me when i first stepped into MK1 (MakmaL Komputer Satu). This was partly due to the fact that this room was full of computers. Another reason was that the room was so condusive (cold air was everywhere) that i was looking forward to receiving the very first instruction.
When we were first instructed to open a page to register ourselves in the course, I wasted no time but to register it asap. Initially, i thought it was just a personal profile to complete. My patience was challenged when I then found out that there were plenty of questionnaires as well. I was not quite happy during this process for it made me realised how much things that I did not know of. There were just too much that I could no longer bear. Fortunately, we were allowed to post anything about this course in our blogs. And I am now here to voice out some of my voices within.
1. I am almost a computer illiterate for i know only of microsoft word and power point, search engine and e-mail. thus, when an assignment was assigned to me, my heart felt when I was required to make a movie. i simply have no idea how to do it. Here, i wonder if i will be taught or guided.
2. I am still confused with the lecturer's statement which sounded like this
"I won't teach but I will make you learn"
I am still thinking of any other possible ways to make us learn besides being taught.
All in all, what relieved me the most was the lecturer herself. She was sporting and i think she loves taking photos. We really felt belonged when she did this for we became more participative. Besides, the fact that she told her we will be learning a lot from this course made me looking forward to the next lesson for i really wish to become a computer savvy like her as well as her assistants one day.
